Medium sized suckering deciduous shrub with slender red stems, turning bright crimson in winter. Small cream flowers then blueish-white berries. Reddish leaves in autumn.

Broadly spreading, deciduous. White flower bracts turn reddish as they age. The leaves smaller and tinged bronze. Red compound fruits in March - food for birds. Autumn colours purplish to red.

Central and Sth Europe. Broadly conical, deciduous. Small clusters of tiny yellow flowers on bare branches in winter. Red or orange glossy fruits in January/February are sour but edible and used for conserves. Good shelter screen.

Masses of tiny yellow flowers then orange berries for the birds, Upright growth, clips well as a hedge.Withstands coastal exposure and dry. For a low hedge of between 50cm – 1m we recommend you plant them 30cm – 50cm apart. For a hedge of between 1m – 2m we recommend planting them 50cm – 1m apart.
