Broadly spreading, deciduous. A tough hedgerow and woodland tree. Popular for trimmed formal hedges. The timber is very hard and used for turnery. Yellow autumn colour. We also recommend Fagus sylvatica as a good alternative for a clipped hedge. 2 year olds - HEDGE spacing 30-60cm

Bred by Mike Geenty, this clone has bright lime green leaves and is evergreen. Masses of tiny yellow flowers then orange berries for the birds, Upright growth, clips well as a hedge.Withstands coastal exposure and dry. For a low hedge of between 50cm – 1m we recommend you plant them 30cm – 50cm apart. For a hedge of between 1m – 2m we recommend planting them 50cm – 1m apart.

Broadly conical, evergreen. Withstands wind well, including salt laden winds in Westland. Good Kiwifruit shelter where it is trimmed annually to 0.5m width. Suggested spacing 1.5 to 2.5m . Major timber tree in Japan. Less vigorous in colder drier South Island areas. 1 year old.

Narrowly conical, evergreen. Fast straight growth, cypress canker resistant. Not for coastal areas exposed to salt-laden winds. Rooted cuttings transplanted to the open ground and regularly wrenched to develop a good fibrous root system. Hedge spacing 1 - 1.2m
