W Nth America. Narrowly conical, evergreen. Grows from sea coast into moist mountains in Oregon and Washington. Good volume production in Westland, logs lighter, bigger loads on trucks. Increased planting taking place. 2nd largest volume producer in USA behind Sequoia. 2 year old.

Northern China. Narrowly conical as a young tree, evergreen and slow growing. Known for its flaking bark in later years, revealing cream and green patches.

Throughout much of Mexico at 1600-2400m in low rainfall 380-640mm areas. Needles in 2 &3's, Cones globose, 10cm with 15-18 fertile scales with almost wingless seeds 10mm long. Jays and squirrels take the seeds, bury some for winter use, and some survive to grow into trees. People harvest the seed for roasting and eating.

Collected from seed stands of high genetic quality approved by the Radiata Breeding Co-op to augment the diminishing supply from open pollinated seed orchards. Light multinodal branching suitable for Christmas tree production. Topped @ maximum height 40cm
