Broadly spreading, evergreen. Shiny leaves with dense white or pale buff tomentum on the underside. Tiny dark red scented flowers, followed by green 3cm capsules. Great coastal shelter but not for cold frosty inland districts.

Broadly conical, evergreen. Shiny, silver-green leaves 3-7cm long. Tiny flowers, dark red, then green to black capsules with sticky black seeds. Good shelter & screening tree. Throughout NZ except Westland, where P. colensoi takes over.

P. x euramericana. P. deltoides x P. nigra. Straight stemmed, narrow crowned, deciduous. Vigorous growth and tolerates dry hillsides and exposure Good conservation tree where minimal shade required. Prone to rust in high humidity & heavy dews, Yellow autumn display. Cuttings 40cm, Rooted topped @ 1m.

Vigorous, broadly spreading, semi-evergreen in mild climates. Leaves similar in shape to Quercus cerris. Tolerates dry windy conditions. Deer, sheep, goats, ducks and pheasants eat most oak acorns.
