Northern China. Narrowly conical as a young tree, evergreen and slow growing. Known for its flaking bark in later years, revealing cream and green patches.

S California & N Mexico. Broadly conical, evergreen. Stout shoots, needles in 3's 15-30cm long, stiff and curved, pale blueish-grey-green. Cones very large 25-35cm long. Tolerates dry sites.

Collected from seed stands of high genetic quality approved by the Radiata Breeding Co-op to augment the diminishing supply from open pollinated seed orchards. Light multinodal branching suitable for Christmas tree production. Topped @ maximum height 40cm

Broadly spreading, evergreen. Shiny leaves with dense white or pale buff tomentum on the underside. Tiny dark red scented flowers, followed by green 3cm capsules. Great coastal shelter but not for cold frosty inland districts.
