Seedlings from a selected bushy plant flowering from mid March through to early September, a mass of honey bees in June. A good screening plant.

Endemic to the East of North Island, now widely planted. Branches spreading sometimes pendulous. Branchlets clad in a golden yellow or grey tomentum. Leaves 100-150mm with 10-20 pairs of grey-green leaflets well spaced, never crowded or overlapping, densely clad in silky straight appressed hairs. Up to 10 flowers in a bunch Sept.-Dec., nectar attracting tuis , bellbirds and bees. The wood is very hard and durable.

Very narrow columnar dense evergreen conifer. Foliage bronze in winter. Great feature tree or dense easy care hedge which doesn't need trimming. Tolerates a wide range of soil conditions. Cold hardy. Planting spacing for dense hedge 50-75cm

Western N. America. Conical, evergreen. Make a graceful specimen tree. Will tolerate shade, prefers regular rainfall. Component of Douglas fir forest. Suited to uneven aged selection forestry. Will clip to an attractive hedge.
