Endangered leguminous North Island shrub with bright red pendulous flowers. Needs a well drained sunny site away from heavy frost. Nectar for Tui and Bellbirds, Watch for slugs, snail and insect damage.

Common bushy straight stemmed native shrub with wide angled branches, bearing clustered pairs of variably shaped small dark green leaves. Fruit pale blue eaten by birds.

Single stem initially, then branched with strap-like leaves, evergreen. Tolerates a wide range of sites, including coastal and swampy sites. Our selection is from a cold inland Canterbury site.

Bred by Mike Geenty, this clone has bright lime green leaves and is evergreen. Masses of tiny yellow flowers then orange berries for the birds, Upright growth, clips well as a hedge.Withstands coastal exposure and dry. For a low hedge of between 50cm – 1m we recommend you plant them 30cm – 50cm apart. For a hedge of between 1m – 2m we recommend planting them 50cm – 1m apart.
